The online Summer Makeup Course Program Listing of US Medical Schools contains information for medical students about summer school opportunities for medical school course work at Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) - accredited medical schools in the United States.

Information in the listing is provided to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Section for Student Programs by those US medical schools offering summer school course work. If a school is not listed, either the school does not offer summer school course work or the school has elected not to provide information about summer school course offerings to the AAMC.

Relevant information provided by each medical school can include:

• Course name
• Sponsoring department
• Course description
• Start and end dates
• Required qualifications and prerequisites
• Application deadline, fees, and other registration information and contacts
• Housing and type information
• Course director to contact for further information about the course

Historically, summer school course work offered by US medical schools has included Anatomy, Biochemistry, Histology, Microbiology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physiology, and a small number of other subjects.

Please note that schools, departments, and course directors offering summer school courses to medical students have been strongly encouraged by the AAMC to communicate closely with the home institution of any medical student seeking enrollment in the course since it is the prerogative of the student's home institution to accept (or not accept) course credit in fulfillment of educational requirements for the M.D. degree.

Information in the listing can be updated at any time, in this new online format, by medical school personnel. AAMC staff members, early in the spring of each academic year, make a formal request of each medical school to update school information about summer school course offerings.
